Anyone else want to join? - welcome! But...

WARNING: from now, there is a risk that upcoming people will not take part in the tournament. Unfortunately, this will happen if we do not complete a total of 16 players

We currently have 12 players - SUPER - thank you all for joining! It should be great fun!

12 - that's enough for end registration and the start of the Tournament.

I think, we can wait a few days more, and maybe we will collect a team of 16 people.

If we will start as 12 players:

  • minimum 4 and maximum 11 games for the player if he goes to the final.
  • 3 start groups of 4 players (the top two players of each group move up)
  • 2 semi-final groups of 3 players each (X shape map, 8 sectors) (the top two players of each group move up)
  • 1 final group of 4 players

If we will start as 16 players:

  • minimum 4 and maximum 12 games for the player, if he goes to the final.
  • 4 start groups of 4 players
  • 2 semi-final groups of 4 players
  • 1 final group of 4 players

I want to remind important rules:

  • each group of players has - for start: its own random map. Then, starting from the second game, they will copy the map and factions used in their first game.

  • you can lose each game in the group and you will still be promoted to the semi-finals. You can win 3 games in a group and you will not be promoted. Yeah, It's theoretically possible! Why? Because in this tournament, the sum of all your points from 4 games counts.

Dear Gentlemen!

registration is over!

Thank you all for joining! Trust me - it's a good choice! Are the rules clear? If not - just ask.

Before we start... time for: some coaching shit!

    1. Never give up!

If someone wants to quit - all other 15 players have a serious problem then.

If you really have to quit the ongoing Tournament - OK!... But please - don't click pass! try to play to the end! try to finish the current game. After that someone will replace you as 'backup player'. You lost 3 games and lost faith? In the First Tournament, the player 'Wy' did not win any single game as a only winner, yet made it to the finals! So - never give up!

  • 2. Mistakes happen!

If someone (starting from the second game) mistakes the order, chooses the factions incorrectly, bids for more than 0 - don't worry! but in this case the group has to create a game-table again.

Do you want to start a game over, because you - as Bal T'aks - missed changing the gaiaformer for QIC? I'm sorry, the group will NOT start again.

    1. Rules or something is not clear? In your opinion something is not fair?

Do not ignore communication. Use game-chat, or ask here. Your opinion is important. 

  • 4. Respect other players

Yeah, I know - I don't need to write it. But you don't play against the computer, there are people like you on the other side of the screen. Sometimes they have a bad day too, but we met here - people from 3 continents - to enjoy this tournament together. Have fun! :)

Start: Monday 20/09/2021

Structure of the Tournament:

Details:

  • each group starts with its own (random) map. And counts points from all 4 games, from null.
  • each group at each stage: consists of 4 players.
  • only 2 players can be promoted from the group.
  • there are no extra points for a single game win!

The Tournament will last about 6 months (I hope). If the players are slow it will take more time (I hope not).

GROUPS

for transparency:

We have 5 players from the first season of this tournament. Including the 4 more experienced. Including 3 champions - putting them in one group would be unfair. Therefore, I decided that everyone would be in a separate groups. As familiar with the tournament system - they will be able to help you explain how to start the second round, etc.

Small rule of our tournament - the last player can decide:

Gaianator was the last to join, I don't know him, we never played together, probably. So I am asking him to complete the line-up of all groups. So Gaianator - please, can you divide players into groups below? (if you do not do it - tomorrow I will ask the next person: Mecenas). Please put each player into the groups. How will you do this? It's your decision/lottery.

Hi everybody!

Thanks Ariallito for all the work you're putting into organizing this.

I just wanted to say, to three misterious people I'll be playing the first game with, I won't be able to play much the coming weekend. But don't worry! I'm normally very present on BGS so we'll make up for the lost time, starting from monday.

Also, I'm in for organizing sessions of live play, if the others in my group are willing to do that.

Thanks for that.

One question: you said that we will use auctions with 0 bid in order to maintain the right faction/player order.

But couldn't we get the same result simply deselecting the "random player order" option when creating new tournament games?

In this way, players will play in the order they join the game, so all they need to do is (A) wait for their turn to enter the game and (B) select the correct faction

@ effa - thank you for interested. And I'm sorry, I don't understand you. We have crew of 16 players and close registration yesterday, before your post. Am I wrong?

I would like to propose a small elo balancing swaps - group D has two sub 200 players and group B only 200+

  • Group B Molfo and Group D Recods
  • Group A Markus and Group B Snitz

If there are major objections I would like to make the changes.

Around the weekend, I will send each of you a link to the games.

The first game: no auction. You choose any faction and play. The second (and next) games: auction as a tool for copying the correct factions order - but I will remind about it.

Manual poll only for players enrolled in the EuroAfrAsia Cup (10 A's required for motion to pass):

  • A: Play all four of your round games simultaneously

  • B: Play round games one after the other

  • C: I don't have a particular preference

It's not mine but also yours Tournament. We play together & decide together. If 10 people choose options A or C, we play: 4 games at the same time.

If you don't understand the difference: ask here or check discussion from Discord channel.

Why am I asking you this?

Some players have an idea about changing the system of games. Please check dissciusion https://discord.com/channels/693041156698669057/702081375309660170 and vote here (forum) or there (Discord), we will summary all voices.

EDIT: But... maybe better way is these proposals:

[1] Each single group can play as they wish if all 4 players agree

and:

[2] In the event of great differences in agreement, Gaianator will reorganize all the groups so that 'simultaneous players' can be put together into 1,2 or 3 groups. And the rest players, preferring old system 'one after another' also put together, into 1,2 or 3 groups. Still we have to keep Torunament's rule: each group is 4 players.

or

[3] @Snitz: all groups should play the same way.

:: ps. In my opinion: {1} and {2} is OK: players should try new method. But I definitely want to be in a group that plays in old way: one game after another. If there is no such group - no problem, I will play like everyone else.

Option B. Why not option A? - playing 4 games in the same setup simultaniously would be just monotonous. It would be harder to follow your pre planned strategy for your game this way, cause the games would mess up. I've got this tested in late Polish Leauge.

Following the same winning patern in the next round games is not the issue in my opinion, because optimal moves highly depent on other players actions, which would differ highly as the games progress. The optimal initial mine placement and boosters taken from game to game probably would be the same - but these decicions are rather obvious.
It like chess - the possibilities count in bilions. No worry in coping winning moves.

Please notice: it will be our together defeat if someone completely loses game/tournament just because of an absurd missclick.

In such a situation - please report the bug in the game chat IMMEDIATELY. The next player is supposed to wait, shouldn't make their own move. We will try to find help.

Of course, this does not apply to a player's wrong decision. The situation must be transparent, without any doubts!

These 16 group games really deserve a summary. But by not directly participating in 12 of them - I can only risk unfair judgment.

In my group D, the weakest Lantid result and the worst Ambas result were also one of the hardest fights in this group! So it makes no sense to write that X vp is a low result. In the same way - for example: I know nothing about the actual value of the Lantids scores in group B, sometimes one decision (your or not) can change everything...

If anyone wants to add something or sum up these difficult matches - please.

I can and would like only to write: thank you ALL 16 players for your games!

@ariallito I' ve got some observations and interesting for me afterthoughts, but frankly, I think that revealing them would be somenthing that might interfere with the rivalization.

This setup of 4 identical games leads to particular attitude, faction strenght is something that is less significant here, hence they are all played at some point.

I propose to define the exact schemeing key of picking factions for all 4 games. E.g. : Ist match ABCD 2nd BDAC 3 rd CADB 4th DCBA Or something like this....

Thank you for your opinion. We will do as you suggested. And we don't need 'auction' anymore, because BGS has fixed 'player order' option :)

Explanation the random order of your group F is:

First game:

  1. vizkris
  2. Markus
  3. bardopondo
  4. carioca

So we're going to shift the order 1 to the right:

Second game

  1. carioca
  2. vizkris
  3. Markus
  4. bardopondo

Third game:

  1. bardopondo
  2. carioca
  3. vizkris
  4. Markus

etc.

vizkris is 'Host of the table'. He will manage the correct order.
